COLORADO RIVER CANOE TRIP 2003

WHEN : Leave Fri October 24, Rerurn Sunday Oct 26, 2003
WHERE : Needles Calif to Lake Havasu
I-15 North to I-40, I-40 East to Needles
This section of the Colorado River winds thru scenic Topoc Gorge, site of
ancient rock paintings / petroglyphs. Then thru Mohave Canyon.
Most of the trip will be in the Havasu National Wildlife Reserve.
Camp Friday night at Park Moabi (just south of Needles Ca.)
Camp Saturday night at one of the Campgrounds on Lake Havasu State Beach
We end up on Sunday under the London Bridge near the south end of Lake Havasu
MAPS : Park Moabi Friday Night (Start point Sat Morning)
Topoc Gorge & Mohave Canyon
Castle Rock Bay (end of day 1 canoeing)
Lake Havasu & London Bridge (Sat. night & Sunday morning)
LEADER: Mr. Warner - Mr. Maglio
NOTES : Spend Friday night at Park Moabi Campground in Needles.
Probably spend Saturday night at Lake Havasu
Head home from Lake Havasu Sunday afternoon
FEES : Fee for this trip will be approx $90-$95 (plus travel money *) per person.
This covers canoe rental, campground fees, gas, and food.
Exact fee not yet known.
A down payment to reserve canoes will probably be required in Sept.
Balance will be due on or before Sept 30
* Travel money - each Scout should also carry personal cash for 2 stops at
fast food (1 fast food stop on the way up, 1 stop on the way back) as this
will be a long drive (5-6 hours).
